The ice is breaking up and flowing down the river, a sure sign that spring is right around the corner. With spring comes the 16th annual Emo Walleye Classic!
The committee has been hard at work all winter planning and organising to ensure this years tournament will be the best one yet! It’s not too late to register a team, check out the 2017 Tournament page to download a registration form. New this year is the Elmer Haglin Family Award, $250.00 awarded to a team of family members that has the highest overall weight after day 2. Family teams can consist of brothers, sisters, brother and sister, mother or father and child, grandparent and grandchild, aunt or uncle and neice or nephew, or cousins. Grab your favourite family member and get resigetered to be eligible for this awesome new prize!

Watch for raffle tickets being sold at various businesses across the district starting this week. Check out the grand prize at Norlunds and buy a ticket while you’re there (the grand prize winning ticket was sold at Norlunds last year). The boat will also be on show during Emo Spring Fever Days from April 20-22 downtown Emo near Tompkins, and every Friday at Cloverleaf beginning April 28th. Draw will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 8:00 pm.
We are super excited to announce that this year instead of the Boat Parade there will be a Boat Show & Shine. Anglers will be lined up with their boats on Front St for fans and the public to get an up close view of some of these awesome rigs! Meet the anglers, get a picture with your favourite team, and of course don’t forget to bring a bag to collect all your candy and loot that you get! Anglers, this is your chance to get creative and interactive witht the public, there will be prizes for People’s Choice and Commitee Choice! Fans can visit the Committee booth to vote for their favourite team. While at the Committee booth don’t forget to purchase your ticket for the raffle – the boat will be there so you can see what you may win!
Back by popular demand in the Walleye Teen Dance on Friday, May 26th from 8:00 – 10:00 pm upstairs at the Emo Arena. Party Rock DJ will be there pumping out the hottest tracks, playing games and tossing out prizes! The dance is open to anyone in grades 5-8 and costs $5.00 to get in. Parents/Gaurdians must sign a waiver (will be available online soon) and all teens must be signed in and out of the dance by an adult. Last years dance was so hot we set off the fire alarm! You don’t want to miss out this year!
We are bringing back a crowd favourite, Nite Hawk Band to play on Saturday night. $10.00 admission at the door, age of majority only.
Finally, we are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to help out in any way, please contact us. High school student, we will sign forms for volunteer hours.
