Back-to-back wins for Godin & Galusha

It was a near thing right down to the very end, but Bill Godin and Ralph Galusha managed to pull out a win for the 2015 Emo Walleye Classic, dethroning former champs Dale Hartlin and Dan Pollard at the very end of day two! Bill and Ralph brought back a bag of 4.62 lbs, which was just enough to snatch victory from Hartlin and Pollard, who had a strong day two catch of 7.29 lbs, keeping them in the New Gold hot seats for the majority of the top ten! Many thanks to all the anglers who participated, the volunteers, and the sponsors of the tournament, for making 2015 our best tournament ever.

Defending champs take day one!

The teams came through with numbers, but lighter weights were the theme for day one of the 2015 Emo Walleye Classic! It was an exciting first day as the anglers brought their fish to the Emo/Lavallee Arena. But lower weights mean that the tournament is still anyone's to take! You can find the full Day One results here. Look for big shifts in places tomorrow, as Day Two of the tournament starts from the Emo dock at 8:00 Saturday morning -- and weigh-ins starting at 3:30!

Nevin Bonot Memorial Prize

For 2015, the Emo Walleye Classic organizing committee has created a new angler prize, in memory of our friend and committee member Nevin Bonot. Always a tireless supporter of the tournament, we felt it most appropriate to honour Nevin in a way he would have wanted – by encouraging more teams to fish in 2015. All teams that register by April 1st, 2015 will be entered into a draw for $500 – essentially making their tournament entry free!

In Memory of Nevin

The directors of the Emo Walleye Classic extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Nevin Bonot, one of our founding directors – and one of our dearest friends.

Nevin was a part of the group that came together to create the Emo Walleye Classic, and gave his time, his talents and his energy to our committee every year for the last thirteen years. Always a smiling face behind the bar, Nevin was one of our most reliable and dedicated committee members.

Whatever we had to do, wherever Nevin was needed, he was there.

Mark your calendars for 2015!

In 2015, the Emo Walleye Classic will have a new weekend for anglers to ply their skills on the Rainy River!

It's a three-peat! Godin and Galusha on top!

It took a healthy day two bag, but previous champions Bill Godin and Ralph Galusha toughed it out at the very end of the tournament to take the 2014 EWC crown! Locals Ted Heyens and Kelvin Caul snatched the lead from Les Morrison and Oliver Gibbons, but couldn't hold on to the lead when the day one leaders came across the stage with a day two catch of 8.22 lbs. Morrison and Gibbons held the lead for most of the top ten before being bumped by Heyens and Caul at the eleventh hour.

Two-time champs top Day One!

On one of the hottest days of this spring so far, Bill Godin and Ralph Galusha of Devlin, Ontario, turned out to be the hottest, with a one-day catch of 9.62 pounds tot ake the lead at the 2014 Emo Walleye Classic. Godin and Galusha had four fish for the day, though the big fish for the day was taken by  2012 champions Rod Woodgate and Dylan Swire, weighing in at 3.45 pounds. All but one team came back from the river today with fish in their live wells, and tomorrow has the potential to be even better.

33 teams take off for the 2014 EWC!
