2017 EWC Champions - Les Morrison & Oliver Gibbons

Past Champions Les Morrison and Oliver Gibbons blew the competition away on Day 2 with a huge basket of 14.9 lbs bringing their total weight to 22.03 lbs. This was nearly 11 lbs more than father/son team Josh and Dan Pollard who finished in second place with a total of 11.22 lbs thanks to a 'hog' brought in weighing over 7 lbs!

Team 3, Les Morrison & Oliver Gibbons Lead after Day 1

2017 is proving to be a difficult year for the anglers participating in the EWC. Although every team checked in with 4 fish each, an EWC first, the big fish were few and far between. Team 3, Les Morrison and Oliver Gibbons managed to pull in the Big Fiah of the day weighing 3.84 lbs which contributed to their total weight of 7.13 lbs putting them at the top of the Leader Board after Day 1. To bring a little perspective to the size of fish that were brought in today, the Big Fish last year weighed a whopping 8.79 lbs.

2017 Updates

The ice is breaking up and flowing down the river, a sure sign that spring is right around the corner. With spring comes the 16th annual Emo Walleye Classic!

Early Bird Registration

In 2015, the Emo Walleye Classic lost one of its founding committee members, Nevin Bonot. The passion and enthusiasm that Nevin brought to our tournament was a powerful driver, and we honor his efforts through the Nevin Bonot Memorial Award. This award, donated by the Emo Walleye Classic, is awarded to one team randomly selected from those who register prior to the early bird date. This year, that date is Janurary 31, 2017. Nevin was a powerful advocate for the tournament, and for all the teams fishing in the EWC.

2016 Champs Ted Heyens and Kelvin Caul!

They were behind the eight ball coming into day two, but former champs Ted Heyens and Kelvin Caul found the "hog" on the river to make their bag – and win – for day two! Congratulations to all the anglers who fought challenging conditions on day two! You can find the full results here -- thanks to everyone who made the 2016 Emo Walleye Classic another success!

2013 champs lead the pack after Day One!

A beautiful day on the Rainy River netted 148 fish for 37 teams, and a top weight of 13.55 pounds for previous champions Les Morrison and Oliver Gibbons! Day one saw previous champions scattered across the flights, and a number of rookie anglers who turned in some impressive results. You can check out the results from the day on our 2016 results page here! Day two will be just as exciting, as we bring the top ten teams through the arena for the weigh-ins -- boats and all!

Day One a beautiful start to the 2016 EWC!

It's on! Gorgeous weather and glassy water made for a very successful launch of the 2016 Emo Walleye Classic! We'll be posting all day, and livestreaming at Twitch for the weigh-ins. Come on out to the Emo Walleye Classic weigh-ins at the Emo LaVallee Arena starting at 3:30, or you can also hear our live broadcast over the airwaves at K-104 Country! Thanks to all 74 anglers, over 100 volunteers and our fantastic sponsors for making the 15th year happen!
